Drew University Recommends Helpful Tips To Students During Extreme Weather Conditions

Since students have returned to campus, there have been some extreme weather conditions that not everyone may be prepared for. Worry not, however, for Drew University is always looking out for its students and has shared some pro tips for students to remain safe and comfortable!

In an email shared to all residents, ResLife recommends that during heat waves, students do their best to “stay cool” and “not get hot.”

“When it gets really hot out,” the email reads, “students may feel warmer than usual. Therefore we recommend that students don’t do that. Simply don’t feel warm.”
The email does not mention any strategies for students who live in dorms without air conditioning, but when we reached out to ResLife to hear their suggestions for these students, they responded with, “Oh yikes, yeah no it’s gonna be really hot in there. Oof, that sucks. Um, drink water, I guess.”

Extreme heat isn’t the only weather phenomenon students have been facing this week; there have also been a series of intense thunderstorms. ResLife reminds students that during thunderstorms, “It may start raining, and that can lead to you getting wet, and if you don’t enjoy that, you should not go outside.”

Responding to concerns about flooding, ResLife says, “That’s nature’s swimming pool. We don’t want to interfere.”

So while students may be feeling disconcerted about dealing with the weather lately, they should rest easy, for Drew University will always help its students remain safe and comfortable! As long as they don’t find themselves in uncomfortable situations.
