That’s right, you read correctly, Yik Yak is back and cooler than ever! A handful of dedicated students have been working hard to revive Drew’s Yik Yak, and it is paying off. Finally, there is a platform where only students of Drew can anonymously share their honest opinions of life on campus, and where definitely no admin will be able to see or post anything.
Since the beginning of this semester, students, and only students, have been posting about their experiences on campus. A popular topic has been the dining. While complaining about campus meals is a very common sentiment in public, one user on Yik Yak who is definitely a student who eats the food regularly reveals the true feelings of the student body about Commons: “Omg guys, like this post if you LOVE eating at Commons. I am just a huge fan of the multitude of dining options. Honestly, it’s so worth the meal plan. I don’t even want to go home on breaks because I’ll miss out on the delicious healthy food!” Nice to know that real students genuinely enjoy eating powdered eggs and vastly under-or-overcooked vegetables!
Some of us might have thought that among the student body there is a large number of stoners. However, this student user shares a genuine opinion in their post, “Hello, fellow students, I wanted to come on here and talk about a genuine issue on campus. I feel like a lot of people are forgetting that this is a smoke-free campus, and that includes marijuana and being in the woods. Also, here is a link to an article about how marijuana use affects college students negatively. As a real student myself, I don’t like seeing my peers throw their lives away getting addicted to hard drugs. Best, A Student.” What a relief to have fellow students looking out for us!
If a few students have been disgruntled about tuition costs, another Yik Yak user wants to let us know, “I have been hearing a lot about how people don’t want to pay so much for tuition and I think it’s crazy because Drew honestly gives out so much financial aid and is one of the most affordable schools in the US. Princeton puts us on its Best Value list every year. I’m just saying it’s a super reasonable price.” This student must be an Economics major because they make some great points!
