Drew is Officially in an Economic Crisis as Inflation Causes The Pub to Raise the Cost of Pizza Slices to $2

One of Drew University’s fun and unique features is the on-campus bar, The Pub, located in the EC. Known for its cozy atmosphere and bizarre videos, it has also been a favorite because of its free pizza policy. Alas, this is finally changing, with pizza now costing $2.

“We know that the reason students come to the Pub is how cheap it is,” Darla Thomas, Drew representative, says. “But we want students to start coming for other reasons, instead, so we’re making it not cheap anymore.”

When asked what Drew is planning on using the new pizza income on, Ms. Thomas said, “President Link has been wanting new wallpa— I mean, the extra profit will be going towards funding student activities and wellness.”

Pub bartender, Senior Jule Verger, says, “This is a huge change. To be honest, we kind of forgot that this is a school-run establishment because we sort of do whatever we want in here. Now instead of students coming because they want free pizza, they’re going to be coming because they’re alcoholics. I think it’ll be difficult for them to come to terms with that fact, so we’re going to be playing some dancing fruit videos to calm and distract patrons.”

Brandon Carter, Junior, shares, “The Pub is the only place I hang out. If I buy alcohol and can’t get pizza with it for free, how am I going to prevent myself from getting drunk? I am relying on that free pizza to absorb the beer. Now what am I supposed to do? Drink less? Be reasonable.”

This is a pretty big change for Drew’s students to get used to. If anyone needs assistance from a finance major to adjust their monthly budget plans to include purchasing pizza slices, they can ask any passing athlete on the path. This event is a solemn reminder that inflation hits everyone hard, universities and students alike. Good luck affording pizza, everyone.
