Hearing your alarm blaring at 8 a.m, struggling to get out of your comfy bed and making it to class on time is hard enough. Your body feels so heavy, sunken into your comforter, just five more minutes. Until you realize you have to outrun them. The armada of tiktokers.
They’ve invaded the campus. You can’t go anywhere without being stopped. From asking you to get sturdy, how many states are in the U.S and would you take $100 or dinner with Jay-Z or something like that. People just want to get to class in peace.
We spoke to Michael, majoring in Chemistry, currently a student at the university. He was on his way to finish a lab assignment when he noticed a man holding a mic, staring right at him. Continued walking, staring at the ground, trying not to make eye contact but he was stopped and the mic was put near his mouth. Michael stated, “ The first mistake I made was making eye contact with him. I just wanted to get to class. I don’t have time for this.” He had a few more words to say but we cannot disclose them.
Many students stated, “ It was funny at first, but now they’re everywhere. They make us late to class.” Another student said, “ My professor gave me an F for the day because I was late again. Do they even go here?” There has to be something we can do to avoid these people. This can’t be legal. What about consent?
Now, there’s nothing wrong with making a silly little video on campus but blocking a very crowded pathway, lip syncing to a Taylor Swift song, is a little much. You try to dodge being in the video but it’s impossible. Things are getting out of hand. Many students have complained to their professors about these videos but they’re not believing it.
Students decided they’re tired of being late to class, filmed without consent or just watching people be obnoxious early in the morning. So they started walking through their videos without stopping. Whenever they see a video being made in a crowded space, they just walk right past them with no remorse.
Of course this made the tik tokers angry, but who cares. Students are paying to go to class, not to be in the background of your videos that results in them being late.
