Our campus is famous for its beautiful scenery, and its photogenic nature, making Admissions’ job so much easier by enticing new students to enter its idyllic paths. However, this may be a case of too much of a good thing, for now, there are photography students taking photos absolutely everywhere on campus in order to be the ones to take the Perfect Shot.
“One of my favorite things about the campus is how peaceful it is, and how even though there are hundreds of people here, I can still walk on the path and feel secluded,” Sonya Martin, Junior, says. “But now, everywhere I go there’s people with cameras. It’s like I’m Amber Heard.”
Admissions’ Media Manager, Kristi Polastri, tells us, “It’s gotten to the point where we can’t take current photos or videos on campus anymore because there’s always at least three photographers in the frame. They’re outpopulating the squirrels, which is saying something.”
We asked Professor Harriton of the Photography Department if he had any insight into why there are suddenly so many people out with cameras on campus. “Well, all the photo students’ first assignment is to take at least 150 different photos, and I may have mentioned that I give extra credit to my favorite campus shot, but I don’t think that has anything to do with it. Now please move aside, you’re in my shot.”
So, if you don’t want your face to be shown on a gallery wall this semester, we suggest either staying indoors or wearing a mask. Or, you can petition the school to pull even more funds from the Art Department and get Photography cut entirely! Whatever is easier.
