Kennesaw, GA. – Throughout the KSU Campus, students have spoken about privacy concerns over the new A. I use surveillance to monitor the campus. Worries over illegal recording, access to citizens’ personal information, and the fact that a third-party company is ahead on this. It’s what one student calls “Orson-Wellian,” when interviewed by The Nut. When asked if he meant “Orwellian,” his response was,
“What did I say?”
He was pressed further by our reporters to expand on what he meant by that statement. He went on about how robots are spying on us and how this is absolutely how 1984 started. Down to the thinking police and how we are forced to love the Big Brother guy, to paraphrase. “Wake up!” he shouted as he praised Orson Welles as a true visionary.
After being told how there is a George Orwell and Orson Welles, he was unable to identify which made movies and which was a sci-fi writer. He then finally admitted he skimmed the wikipedia for the movie adaptation for a class in high school, but he stands by his point.
The Nut begrudges that he wasn’t entirely off. The student has now added Citizen Kane to his watchlist. We did not get a timeline if he will read the actual 1984.
