First Warm Day of the Year in NYC: Girl is “Going to be Okay”

As the New York weather reaches a daily high of 68 degrees, the Barnard and Columbia community have begun to shrug off their black puffer jackets to photosynthesize in the sun on Low steps. Our sources over at The Nut have reported an “electric buzz, low cortisol ratings, and general optimism about life that has not been felt since orientation week.” One environment studies student, Liv Freely, was on her way to her Intro to Biology midterm when witnesses claimed that she “stopped in the middle of the 116th crosswalk, hugged herself while swaying, and faintly smirked at the sky.”

Our sources observed Freely to be frolicking across College Walk smiling at the pigeons as if they were a part of some divine plan. When interviewing Freely, she spoke with a twinkle in her eye and claimed that, “life has never been more worth living than in this specific moment.” When asked about how she pivoted her mindset, Freely stated, “Y’know… I just realized how connected our mind and souls and bodies are to the earth. I was like, woah, I can literally feel the sun on my skin.” After finishing up the interview, Freely pulled aside one of our reporters and told him to, “hey… every now and then… just stop and smell the roses, okay?”

Our most recent reporting confirms that Freely has, “no summer internships, no nepotism connections, and completely bombed all her midterms,” yet she still insists that, “the universe has a plan. Somehow… it will all work out.”
