Following the “hack attempt” (as the Drew communications department called it) on August 21, The Nut spoke in an exclusive interview with the anonymous hacker, and they shed some light on the situation. “What ‘attempt’? I succeeded,” the hacker says. When asked why they did it, the hacker admitted to finding less than they bargained for. “I broke in to steal just a few million and couldn’t believe my eyes when I realized a private college like Drew had no money to take,” the hacker says.
But where does the money go if not into the shallow pockets of a hacker? Are they leaving it beneath the soil to save for a rainy day, or is it being embezzled for a greater cause than the comfort of the students? Who’s to say? The hacker. Alas, the truth remains that he did not, in fact, succeed in getting any amount of money.
