Topspin 2k25 releases “Challengers” DLC with little to no tennis

Does pressing the “X” button serve the ball or does that also just dick slap your opponent? This is just one of many questions you’ll ask when playing the new “Challengers” DLC, now available for Top Spin 2K25. That’s right, 2K Games, creators of the tennis video game Top Spin, have just released a new campaign featuring Zendaya‘s, Tashi, as your “extremely intense” Tennis Manager.

The DLC hit the online stores this Tuesday, May 28th, breaking sales records for 2K Games. “I just couldn’t wait to hit the court as the bad ass Tashi and take on Serena Williams!,” said Sophomore, Keira Prezzo, “Let’s just say  I was not prepared for this game.”

So far, reviews of the DLC have been mostly positive, however, there does seem to be a common feeling that it is “Way less about tennis than you’d expect it to be.” The campaign starts with Tashi telling you that she has entered you into a low level championship. The fast paced gameplay takes you through a circuit of increasingly challenging opponents. However it also takes you into, “Flash back” missions which mostly take place inside a motel room with your long time rival/ ex best friend.

The game offers a “unique” role playing experience as the way you respond to characters in the game, directly affects the ending and how many times you go back to the motel. “You can’t be too careful how you answer Tashi.,” said Zachary Bronson, a gamer who has reached 100% in the DLC, “It’s important that she knows that you are her fan cause that will get you extra power on serves. You need to keep that up or your Tashi Power meter will be transferred to your secret crush tennis rival.  Bronson went on to say that it’s the kind of game you’ll have to play twice to really understand.

After the booming success of the Challengers DLC, 2K announced a Co-op mode should be available starting sometime next week. Early access reviews are already calling it the best game to play with your bro in 2024.
