5 Helpful Tips for Ohio University Students

New Student At Ohio University Athens!

Being a student in a new school is always stressful. You never know what kinds of details are left out of campus advertisements, from weird cultural niches to places that haven’t been developed since the dark ages. So here are some helpful tool tips (from an OU student!) to get you started on this new and exciting journey and to hopefully ease your way:

  1. Get a pair of sound canceling-headphones! Athens never sleeps, so if you want to sleep, you’ll need to be prepared.

  2. Throw out your map of campus! Most maps only show campus roads, but there are a myriad of walking paths and shortcuts around that barely make eye contact with any road. You’re better off investing in a compass.

  3. Don’t forget your socks and sandals! If you want to fit in around here, the rattiest socks and sandals you can find are a must.

  4. Make a pact with the eldritch horror that lives in Ohio’s pavement! If you don’t want to be dragged down into THE PLACE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH THAT BRINGS MADNESS TO ALL  when you inevitably get hit by a car, then you should probably bite the bullet before classes start and make the necessary blood sacrifices.

  5. Bring a sweater to classes! The predictability of AC in most buildings is sparse to none, so having options can be a lifesaver.
