Ranger Bear Forced to Come out of Hibernation Following Grubhub Shutdown

The Amazon Web Service shutdown was a domino effect that took multiple services offline, including, but not limited to, Amazon, Snapchat, and most impactfully, GrubHub.

Ranger Bear, Drew’s very own mascot, has always used the late autumn season as a time to prepare for his inevitable hibernation. Since last year’s dining service switched to gourmet dining, which solely utilizes Grubhub, Ranger Bear has become accustomed to ordering his usual McDonald’s and storing it for the upcoming winter.

The AWS shutdown has prevented him from his normal cheeseburger Happy Meal; as of last night, he was spotted going through the automatic doors in the EC trying to find something to eat. One biology professor reported, “The lack of access to food will push back his hibernation schedule. Once freezing temperatures hit, we may not see Ranger Bear until the class of 2026 graduation.”

Students have attempted to take action. Two Drew seniors reported sneaking into the forest late at night with various fruit and vegetables. When they offered it to Ranger Bear, the apples were flung back at them, and they were forced to retreat.

This shutdown has thrown off Ranger Bear’s seasonal patterns, and full effects have yet to be seen. If Ranger Bear continues to refuse foods that are not up to his standards, the chance of him surviving the winter grows thin.
