It’s that time of the year again! Camping outside of stores, like Best Buy, Apple, Target, and even Walmart. Waiting to see those juicy deals. Buy 1 get 2 free, half off for an air fryer, stuff you can’t miss out on.
Everyone is waiting for stores to drop their sales and open their doors.
Students noticed a “sale” sign being put up outside of the university bookstore. A crowd started to form, waiting and waiting. Stores on campus are pretty expensive, this is a big deal. A student stated, “ Are we really getting a discount? Finally!” Another added, “ Does this mean I can finally get that Bio 101 textbook?” The crowd grew bigger and that led to more curiosity. Who knows, students can get the chance to buy something at a decent price.
The store associate came out of the doors with a new sign in their hand. People are clenching their fists, tears running down their eyes, and calling family members, trying to get everyone’s shirt size. “ Is this really happening?” a student cried out.
Once the sign was finally put down, the doors were opened but no one moved. Everything was silent. People started to read the sign. “ Black Friday Sale! Buy 20 items, get one .50 off.” The crowd went from happy tears to angry and rightfully so.
We’ve asked Sara what she thought, a local student at the university who was there that day. “ We put our hard-earned money into this school, our education and they give us less than 5% off? That’s not even a deal.” Sara went on to say that a regular shirt with the logo on it is $80.
Students started entering the store and questioned the associate, they just shook their heads and said there was nothing they could do, they don’t make the prices. Universities should be ashamed of themselves, they make enough money as is.
